Week of November 27th

This year, we have a couple of different things we are fundraising for. The first, a new roof, is a need. The second, new/updated LED signage is a want.

1. Help us replace our roof!    Goal: $5,000

After years of faithfully patching leaks, the flat roof off of the Academy gym/kitchen has been determined by our Building and Grounds committee as needing a complete replacement down to the joists, backer board, vinyl membrane, additional vents, etc. Given the additional water damage discovered by our maintenance team, our initial project budget of $10K for this replacement is short by $5,000. Help us 'cover' the added expense!

2. Let's spread the news!   Goal: $33,500

Our second goal comes in two parts. Any money earned in excess of what is needed for the roof replacement will be added to the $1,570 we were graciously given via iGiveCatholic donations last year. Thank you to everyone who donated and/or shared our fundraiser! The first part of this additional goal is an additional LED sign for the 18th Street side of the building. This sign will allow us to keep school families, parishioners, and the community updated on events at JPII! The cost of the installation and this sign will be $13,000. If we bypass this goal, we would then like to replace the sign on 17th Street. The cost of the installation and the second sign will be $22,000.

Please encourage your family and friends to donate to this year's fundraiser. Thank you for giving back in gratitude for all you’ve received and thank you for "Giving Catholic" on #GivingTuesday.

May God bless you!

The JPII Penny War starts Monday, November 27th, and goes through Friday, December 1st! Put pennies in your class’ jar to raise the total, or add silver coins/bills to another class’ jar to lower their total! The class with the highest total at the end of the day on Friday wins!

Mr. Muhs will be announcing the prize for the winning class at the end of Monday morning’s announcements!

All funds raised will be used toward the needs of each homeroom class, including things like field trips, classroom supplies, etc.

Class totals will be counted daily, and the winning class will be announced on Monday, December 4th during the Morning Assembly!

We will need some help with counting pennies in the afternoon Tuesday - Friday. For more details, or if you are willing to help, please email the office!

The Bookmobile will be at JPII on Tuesday, November 28th.

The Garden Club Christmas Wreath Pick-Up will be in the JPII Gymnasium on Thursday, November 30th from 3:00 pm - 5:00 p.m. and again on Friday, December 1st from 3:00 pm - 5:00 p.m. Please contact the office if you have any questions!

We're excited to share that Miles Sorensen, a 3rd grade student who has been bravely facing cancer for the past two years, is completing his cancer treatment. On December 8th at 2:30 PM, Miles will walk the school halls with his family while fellow students cheer him on in support. The walk will end in the gym, where you are invited to join us in celebrating the end of Miles' cancer journey. Students are encouraged to wear their Miles shirts, the color orange, or Baby Yoda to show support!

KR had a Thanksgiving Feast this week, and even made their own butter!

The 2nd graders made masks, shields, and longships as a culminating project to finish their Vikings unit!

With Christmas fast approaching, we know many are looking for gift ideas for our teachers. Home & School has encouraged JPII faculty, staff, and clubs to set up wish lists on Amazon. Each wish list includes items and supplies that will make a difference at the Academy. Once an item is purchased, Amazon will ship the item directly to JPII; just remember to add a gift message so the recipient knows who the gift came from! We invite you to check out the JPII wish lists here and grant a few wishes today! Thank you for your thoughtful and generous support!

Get some Christmas shopping done without having to go out to the stores, that will even count toward toward your family Scrip obligation! A printable form is available here, or you can email the office to have one sent home with your JPII student.
