  • Principal’s Note

They came to Capernaum and, once inside the house, he began to ask them, “What were you arguing about on the way?” But they remained silent. They had been discussing among themselves who was the greatest. Then he sat down, called the Twelve, and said to them, “If anyone wishes to be first, he shall be the last of all and the servant of all.”  Taking a child, he placed it in their midst, and putting his arms around it, he said to them, “Whoever receives one child such as this in my name, receives me; and whoever receives me, receives not me but the One who sent me.” Mark 9:33-37

    Dear families,

Last week I had the opportunity to substitute teach junior high Theology while Sister Rosalie led a retreat for her religious community. It was a great opportunity to dig into scripture and our relationships with others and our time together flew by. Throughout the class conversations, our students imparted to me a great deal of hope in the quality of young people, at least here at JPII, who are making up the next generation of young people in our community and beyond.

Each week at JPII  we are blessed to receive children in His name and thereby, as Mark writes, “receive the One who sent me”.  The safety of each of our students and staff is of great importance and we want to communicate with you when there is a concern impacting your child(ren).  In that vein, we have had a student with limited class exposure last week test positive for Cov19. Per Health Department protocol, we directly contacted parents with any affected students and updated our website's case tracker. If anyone is interested, we have received Cov19 test kits and the training to administer rapid testing on campus, upon parent request. Thank you to everyone for self-screening for symptoms and keeping sick kids home to recover quickly. Like our catchphrase this month: we are better together and we pray to welcome back all students soon.

    In Christ,

    Michael J. Muhs
