But we have power over all these things through Jesus Who loves us so much.

  • Working Together

This past week our school has seen some challenges with the numbers of covid cases going up. We’ve adjusted some classroom protocol and have been rolling with the daily changes. A big shout out to the flexibility of our teachers to adjust to different staffing, working with students from home, and supporting our substitute teachers. All our subs have been on overtime and we want to thank them as well. It is a challenge, but it is so beautiful to see people stepping up and working together to make our school great.

  • #MIGHTYMILES

Last Friday one of our school families got the very difficult news that their son, Miles, a first-grader in Mrs. Sorensen’s class has been diagnosed with leukemia. As a school, we want to stand firm behind the Sorensen family and lift Miles up in prayer.

Here are a couple of posts from the family on Facebook to give an update in their own words:

  • October 8 Our hearts hurt today… I feel like I’m in a nightmare that I cannot wake out of… As many friends and family know, Miles has been sick the last month and has been having abnormal labs which led to more labs that ended up abnormal, which lead us to today. We met with the oncology doctor and had an MRI and bone narrowing test to rule out the worst… but the worst came true. My sweet sweet loving, caring, 6-year-old little boy has LEUKEMIA. My stomach is sick just writing that sentence. I love both my boys endlessly and will do anything it takes to keep them healthy and happy Please please keep Miles in your prayers, one day at a time #mightymiles

  • October 9 Many friends and family have been asking for an update on Miles: He has just been tired and weak. He is very excited to be getting his IV out today to be able to use both hands… but currently is in surgery to get his port that will be in the next 2+ years for less pokes in his little arms! This afternoon starts his first day of chemotherapy IV and pills. Keep praying for him as he heals, and that he stays pain-free during this time! We also wanted to thank everyone who has taken the time to message, call and pray for us we are very thankful for every one of you #mightymiles

  • October 10 Miles wants to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers, and every kind gesture that has been offered to help our family. We have read every comment and it truly puts a smile on his face how many people love him! Today has been a good day Has gone on 2 walks down the halls, no chemo today! But lots of other meds to keep him going! He also got to spend a little time with his GIGI while daddy and I took a little time to help Heath understand what’s going on with his big brother we love you all thank you so much for everything! #mightymiles

  • October 11 We are finding out fast that these mood swings are real from the medicine. We started with morning basketball, got tired fast, proceeding in a rough day for medicine for him. We quickly switched to his favorite part of the day which is walking the hall to look at the ceiling art and retiring to our room to getting the, “coolest balloons he has ever seen” star wars balloons, coloring crayons, and books from Kayla Monnette & TJ Monnette Miles is truly loved as his smile shows it even on the rough days he still glows, today will be extra cuddles and movies.
