Summer News #1
We hope you are having a wonderful summer break! Here are a couple of things to keep in mind.
Summer Solutions and Reading Bingo
The summer slide is a decline in reading ability and other academic skills that can occur over the summer months when school isn’t in session.
Skills that are learned need to be practiced to ensure ongoing experience in that skill. For example, if your child plays the violin but stops practicing for three months, his skills will decline more than the skills of a child who continues to practice and play the violin over the summer, right?
So what can we do to avoid this common problem?
We highly recommend the summer solutions math book, this is the same math we practice during the year. You can order these books online and they will be sent to your house.
For reading, we gave every student a summer reading bingo sheet to motivate them to do some reading. The recommendation is 20 minutes daily.
Scrip Orders
Orders from today and on will start counting towards the 21/22 school year requirement.
A couple of Thank You`s
We want to thank Libby Theuerkauf, Heather Frankovich, Angela Black and all other volunteers for organizing, prepping, and helping out on the garden planting day. The kids learned so much with the hands on experience and we have lots of good memories.
Another thank you to the Durow family for cleaning up and raking around Mrs. Kricket’s classroom courtyard.
Yearbook
We hear they are almost done with the yearbooks and we will be placing a last order. If you have not reserved your copy yet, please do so soon. We will let you know as soon as they are ready for pick up.
