Week of August 25th: Welcome Back!
We have had a lot of changes this year to our academy. One of which is our family envelope distribution. Now, we are posting updates weekly to our blog to solve a few problems: first, we want to make sure we are keeping germs to a minimum and can keep our doors open all year long and secondly, we want to ensure that every family has access to this information immediately. Whether there are custody arrangements that leave parents out of the know or family envelopes get lost in the black hole of lockers — moving to our website will hopefully solve all of these issues.
Without further ado, below are the things to know this week at JP2.
Facial Covering Policy
Our students have been doing great with wearing facial coverings at required times throughout the day. It has been great to see how well each classroom has adapted to the changes, this school year.
As a reminder, any and all visitors to the academy — parents included — must have a facial covering when in the building. The office secretaries will not be opening doors to anyone not wearing one. This is the keep our academy safe as well as children and is also a state requirement. Let’s all work together to set a good example for the students who are getting used to the new norm as we wrap up our first week of classes.
School Schedule
Below you will find our calendar for September. Please note our NUT Pass days — for new families this is a day where your K-8 child may wear street clothes to school instead of a uniform. Each month we have a free NUT Pass Day as well as a paid day. The paid days cost $2 and each month that money goes towards a classroom or project at the school. Also, new this year, parents will be able to bill their FACTS tuition account the cost of NUT passes, field trip fees as well as milk for students at lunch. You’ll just need to let the office know what you’d like.
Picture Day
As you’ll see on the calendar, we have Picture Day coming up on September 16th at 8 am. This is a school-wide picture day and forms will be sent home prior to the date for orders. Parents of children in 3K are welcome to bring their children that morning to get their photo taken. Otherwise, the 3K class will be getting photographed on the retake day on September 29th.
Piano Lessons Available
The Academy has had the pleasure of offering private piano lessons with a tutor for those students who are interested. There is a small cost to these classes that go to the private tutor. If you are interested, please contact Mrs. Mary Fournier at (906) 863-5866.
Labor Day Weekend
Reminder, next Friday, September 4th and Monday September 7th there is no school in honor of Labor Day weekend.
DAR After School Program
We received information on the DAR Boys & Girls Club’s After School Program, this week. If you are interested in finding out more information, please click this link to be taken to their site.
