Week of September 25th
This week’s news you can use is so full of updates and pictures of the fun we are having, that it is recommended to view on our website as well to make sure you don’t miss anything!
JPII Family Meal Train
We have a JPII family that unexpectedly lost their husband/father this week. Please consider blessing this family with a meal during their time of grief. Gift cards to restaurants would also be appreciated. To make it easier on the family, please deliver meals in containers that may be disposed of. Meals can be dropped off at their home, and a cooler will be provided outside for you to leave the meal in.
All you need to do is volunteer for a date slot, include information about which meal you will be bringing, and follow the delivery instructions provided.
The link to sign up is below. Please consider if you are able!

Important Update
We are no longer allowing body spray. Students are getting headaches & misusing the spray. Stick deodorant is allowed and recommended.
Mass
JPII Students in Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grades presented Father Joseph with the Gifts at mass on Friday.
High Five!
The Preschooler’s were excited to see Father Abraham on their way back from lunch. They were even more excited to give him high fives!
Summer Reading Bingo
Students who got a ‘blackout’ on Mrs. Mielke’s Summer Reading Bingo were awarded Nut Passes at our Monday Morning Assembly this week. Two special drawings were held for a gift certificate to the upcoming Book Fair and a gift certificate to McDonald’s! Congratulations to everyone, and keep on reading!
Thank you!
SJPII had a special visit from Paul Nyberg today! He graciously donated 2 copies of his new book (released this past Friday), Willey's I Wish I Were, to our school. Paul was born in Menominee and has lived here all of his life. Growing up, his mom was a children's librarian, which he says was his inspiration for writing this book. Thank you again, Paul!
Safety at SJPII
During our Monday Morning Assembly, Mr. Muhs talked to the kids about School Safety Drills. They got to hear the sound of a tornado drill and a fire drill during the assembly so that they would know what to expect for the upcoming drills. The kids got to practice how to keep their bodies safe during a tornado drill, and got to ask questions, too. They were all smiles (and silly faces!) before heading back to their classrooms!
Free Time fun
The Kindergarteners were all smiles during free time this week!
Sunny Days in 2nd Grade
The second grade enjoyed the beautiful summer sunshine while drawing sunflowers in the garden, and listening to the Garden of Eden Bible story.
3rd Grade Scientists
Third grade went outside for science class on Thursday! Observing and questioning nature with a sense of wonder and awe!
4th Grade Fun
4th Graders got to do a fun activity popping balloons in the gym! Mrs. Bergstrom put slips of paper in each balloon with different questions written on them. When a student popped a balloon, (s)he had to answer the question inside!
A Piece of Cake in 6th Grade
On Friday, Mrs. Van Brocklin’s 6th grade students worked in groups of 3 to create a model of a cell with cake and candy. The cake was the cell, square for plant cells and round for animal cells, the frosting and candy represented the parts of the cell called Organelles. When the students were done assembling their cake, I had them explain what organelle each candy represented and what that organelle's job is in a real cell. The class even has a special visitor, Mrs. Chaltry!
Special Visitor
Miss Jennie’s 4K class had a couple special visitors this week — Miss Kricket & Taffy! Miss Kricket is training Taffy to be a therapy dog, and talked to the kids about that, and about how to be safe around dogs they may see.
