Week of October 30th

  • Join Us For Two Student Masses Next Week

Next week students will be attending Holy Mass at Resurrection Parish on November 1st, in observance of All Saints Day. We will also be participating in First Friday Mass at Holy Redeemer Parish, on November 3rd, both beginning at 8:30 am.

Reminder: The first Friday dress code is a white collared shirt/polo for all JPII students.

  • Hearing & Vision Testing

We will be again participating in Hearing and Vision screening checks for students on October 31st and November 1st at SJPII by the Delta & Menominee Health Department. Students in grades 1, 3, 5, & 7 will participate in vision screening. Students in grades 2 & 4 will participate in hearing screening. Kindergarten and KR classes will have both hearing and vision screening.

Students in Preschool and Kindergarten should have come home with a blue screening form this week that needs to be filled out and turned into the office by October 31st. If you need an extra, please contact the office.

We are looking for one VIRTUS-certified volunteer for each day of screening to assist department staff. Parents who would be interested in volunteering, or those wishing to opt out their child from screening should please contact the academy office.

  • Absent Student Protocol

As a reminder, when your child is absent or late (because of an appointment, illness, overslept, etc.) you need to notify the main office before 8:00 a.m. via email, phone call, or voice mail. The office will then notify the teachers. Please also indicate what your preference is in regard to homework. (e.g. send home with brother/sister or pick up at end of the day). If a teacher is out for the day (s)he may not see emails or text messages in order to report the absence to the office.

  • Hats & Mittens

The weather is unpredictable, but we have entered the time of year when hats and mittens/gloves must be brought to school! Even if it seems nice out, please still send hats and gloves/mittens, just in case!

KR4 learned about the letter H this week, and celebrated on Friday with a Crazy Hat Day!

Second Graders made pumpkins for a descriptive writing project, and watched a Curious George Halloween movie with popcorn and cookies as a great behavior reward! Way to go kids!

4th Graders had fun combining creative writing and Halloween!

5th graders worked on solar system models in the lab. They tested how much sunlight each planet gets.

  • Pizza Lunch

NEXT Wednesday, November 8th, our Home and School Association will be offering a Hot Lunch featuring Pizza, fresh fruit, and a cookie! The order slips have been sent home and should be returned by Friday, November 3rd to participate. We still need volunteers to help prepare and serve the food as well as supervise the lunch!  Here is a Sign-Up Link.

  • Soccer Skills And Drills Day
