Week Of September 6th

We’re off to a great start.

  • Beginning of year paperwork.

Most of you have brought in the paperwork so a big thank you for that. If we have not received your paperwork yet you will get a reminder email.

  • Picture day

This FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 10TH is picture day! This is also a NON-UNIFORM day! so kids can come in their favorite clothes for their pictures.

We are partnering with Lakeshore photography this year and they will be handling all the communication and ordering of prints or retakes, so please be on the lookout for an email from them.

  • Where’s my ENVELOPE?!

In years past, we have used an envelope system for pictures. This year, Lakeshore is offering something very unique and we think you’ll like it! —

**After the student pictures are taken and proofed, you will receive an additional email with a code to view them online. Here, you can choose photos, change backgrounds and pay for your selected package. Please, let us know if you have any other questions or don’t see your code. This may take a week or so. We are always happy to hear from you!

NOTE: The Preschool T/Th group is welcome to show up on Friday and we will fit you in, or you can wait for the retake day (that will be on a Thursday).

  • 52 Club

  • Volunteers needed

Scrip order pick up: We are looking for a couple of families who can pick up gift cards from local businesses on Wednesdays. We have already placed the orders all you need to do is drive to the business give them a form and check and they will give you gift cards, super easy!! This is a great way to get your volunteer hours filled. If we can find 4 people we only have to ask you once a month!

Coke Code Entry: We have a collection of Coke Codes that need to be redeemed for the Academy. If you’d like this position, the office can send the codes home with your child to be entered.

Envelope stuffing: We are looking for some helpers to stuff envelopes to send out for our “52 Club” raffle fundraiser. This will be on Tuesday, September 14th at 3 PM in the school’s gym. NOTE: This is a different day than printed on the September calendar!!

  • Principal’s Note

    Welcome!

The staff and I are happy to be back for a new school year! Last week's open house was a great success, with nearly total attendance and exciting energy. Each of your child's teachers has been working hard to get ready for this school year, engaging in professional learning, instructional planning, and prayer. We couldn’t wait to have kids back in school.

    Notes and Updates:

    • There have been no changes to our Covid preparedness document sent out last month. Our state-licensed preschool program remains under MI LARA regulations updated in August.

    • Please support the health of our school this year and only send kids to school when they are healthy and without symptoms. Sick or symptomatic children will be sent home.

    • Morning drop-off will continue in the same pattern as last year, beginning at 7:40 and using specific doors for dropoff and pickup. We ask all visitors, parents included, to sign in at the office.

    • Our weekly school masses will be on Fridays until further notice.  The school mass on the first Friday of the month will rotate between our area parishes with October 1st being at Holy Redeemer. Remember: white polo shirts on 1st Fridays.

    • We welcome several new faculty this year with Miss Knight, Mr. Matty, Mr. Mayhew, and Sr. Rosalie Hughes SPC joining our academy family. All our teachers want to work and partner with you. Please don't hesitate to reach out to us with questions or needs.

Ezekiel 11:19: I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh.

    • The past 20 months have been months of debate and disagreement in our country and our schools. It is time to move past this division and come together, once again, as a family.

    • At SJPII, we are working together to make decisions that prioritize individual choices. The staff and I respect each of your opinions and will support your family. All of our decisions will be reviewed on an ongoing basis.

    • I humbly ask each of you to be respectful to one another, our teaching staff, and above all, to be an example of kindness and respect for our children.

    Sincerely,

    Mr. Michael J. Muhs

    Principal
